Pre-suasion
The pitch is decided before the pitch. Whatever you stare at first rigs the whole call.

What it actually is
Pre-suasion is Robert Cialdini's 2016 framework: the process of arranging for people to agree with a message BEFORE they even encounter it. His own line: "What we present first changes the way people experience what we present next." It is the influence move that happens in the seconds before the actual ask. Cialdini wrote the book after his earlier classic Influence and its six principles (reciprocity, commitment, social proof, authority, liking, scarcity) — pre-suasion is the timing layer on top of all of them.
The mechanism: the privileged moment
It runs on attention and priming. Whatever a communicator drags your focus to right before the ask becomes temporarily over-weighted in your brain — Cialdini calls this 'channeled attention.' Whatever is in focus feels causal and important. Studies he cites: a wine shop playing German music sold more German wine, French music sold more French wine — and shoppers had no idea the soundtrack moved them. Priming a word like 'adventurous' beforehand made people more likely to try a new product. The trigger is set, then the pitch lands in fertile ground.
