Limbic Friction
the drag between "i should" and "i'm doing it" — and the exact steps to push through it.
Grounded in the research on limbic friction (Andrew Huberman)
the friction
The felt resistance between impulse and action — the effort it takes to do the hard thing when your body won't cooperate. Heads up: the term was popularized by neuroscientist Andrew Huberman, not lifted from some classic 1960s paper. Treat it as a useful handle, not gospel.
what's actually happening
It maps onto a real tug-of-war: your prefrontal cortex (plans, overrides) vs your limbic system (impulse, emotion, threat). Friction spikes when your autonomic arousal is wrong for the task — too anxious to start, or too flat and tired to move. That mismatch IS the drag.
