Chewing-maxxing

chewing harder will not give you a jaw, but here's what it actually does

Grounded in the research on Wikipedia: Mewing (orthotropics); John Mew / Mike Mew; masseter hypertrophy literature

the move

Chewing-maxxing is the looksmaxxing habit of chewing hard gum, mastic resin, or silicone units for hours to grow your jaw muscles and supposedly sharpen your jawline. It sits next to mewing in the same forward-facial-growth crowd. The pitch: train the jaw like a gym muscle and the bone follows. The reality is way smaller than the TikTok before-and-afters claim.

the first effect

The one real thing: your masseter, the slab of muscle over the back of your jaw, hypertrophies like any muscle under load. Documented in dentistry as masseter hypertrophy. So heavy chewing can make that muscle slightly thicker, giving a marginally wider, more defined look at the angle of the jaw. That's a muscle adaptation, not new bone, and it's measured in millimeters, not glow-ups.
